Our Founder
As an individual born and raised in China, my journey through graduate studies in the United States instilled me with a profound sense of homesickness. However, this experience also deepened my appreciation for the value of cultural exchange. By sharing our cultural history, we impart a sense of understanding about one another that brings us together without concern for political dispositions.
Driven by my longing for my homeland, I founded Shen Candle Co with a purpose in mind: to create a home fragrance brand that evokes nostalgic scents reminiscent of my hometown and shares our rich cultural history with the world.
From a young age, my heightened sense of smell allowed me to detect the most delicate notes and unravel the complex layers of various scents. The curiosity and love that I share for fragrances motivated me to formulate the perfect blends to recreate the vivid aromas in my memories.
I aspire for SCC to not only provide warmth and light during their lifespan, but also carry the cultural spirit within each flickering flame. I sincerely hope these hand-crafted candles will leave a lasting impression, to connect people and create a deeper appreciation for our diverse cultures.

The meaning of Shen
‘Shen’ is a single Chinese character that represents the spirit. This term is also applied to deified mortals and gods, symbolizing the bright and spiritual aspects of human souls.
In Chinese tradition, people offer incense as a sign of respect while worshiping the gods. The Chinese oracle bone inscriptions of the character are also connected to the act of holding incense and kneeling before an altar.
Shen Candle Co. symbolizes my deep aspiration to infuse each candle I create with the cultural spirit of Chinese tradition and history. With every flickering flame, my candles evoke the timeless essence of reverence, spirituality, and the profound connection between humanity and the divine.
