Our Founder
Shen Candle Co. was founded by Yuting (Helen), who was born and raised in China and later came to the United States for graduate school. Living far from home awakened a deep sense of nostalgia, the kind that can be brought back by a single familiar scent.
Inspired by these memories, she created Shen Candle Co. to capture the aromas of home and share the beauty of Chinese culture through fragrance. Each scent is inspired by traditions, foods, places, and stories that carry meaning across generations.
With a lifelong sensitivity to scent and a passion for fragrance, Helen carefully designs each candle to recreate the layered aromas that live in her memories.
Through every flickering flame, Shen Candle Co. hopes to bring warmth, spark curiosity, and create small moments of cultural connection.

The meaning of Shen
‘Shen’ is a single Chinese character that represents the spirit. This term is also applied to deified mortals and gods, symbolizing the bright and spiritual aspects of human souls.
In Chinese tradition, people offer incense as a sign of respect while worshiping the gods. The Chinese oracle bone inscriptions of the character are also connected to the act of holding incense and kneeling before an altar.
Shen Candle Co. symbolizes my deep aspiration to infuse each candle I create with the cultural spirit of Chinese tradition and history. With every flickering flame, my candles evoke the timeless essence of reverence, spirituality, and the profound connection between humanity and the divine.
