DIY Reed Diffuser- How to Make a Reed Diffuser
Reed diffusers are a type of home fragrance product to slowly and continuously diffuse fragrance oil into the surrounding air. They provide a gentle, long-lasting way to fragrant a room without the need for heating or flames.
Making your reed diffuser
TIPS: With our metallic candle lid, you can easily turn your empty candle jar into a diffuser vessel!Â
- Empty jar/vessel
- 10-20 reed sticks
The number of reeds affects the power of fragrance, we recommend starting with 10-20 reeds.
- Reed diffuser base and fragrance oil
When determining how much fragrance to add to your base, it's really your personal preference. If you have a larger room or prefer a stronger scent, you'll want to add more fragrance oil to your diffuser base. We recommend using about 25%. Always consult the IFRA sheet for safe usage limits.
Â
Steps:
- Measure the reed diffuser base into the empty candle jar, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
- Add 10-25% of your desired fragrance oil to the base. For a stronger scent, use more fragrance oil.
- Carefully place the reeds into the jar, arranging them as desired.
- Top the jar with the metallic candle topper.
As the fragrance oil is slowly drawn up the reeds, it will disperse a subtle, continuous aroma throughout your space. Customize the scent by experimenting with different fragrance oil blends.
This easy DIY project is a great way to reuse your empty candle jars and create a luxurious, personalized home fragrance. Reed diffusers are popular because they are easy to use, don't require electricity, and provide a long-lasting scent experience (typically 2-3 months). Â
